the sun was setting in the sky
it was time for me to leave
i could find my shoes but i
couldn’t find my feet
candlelit dinner
swimming with the sharks
wind blew through the window
now i sit here in the dark
and i can just sit here and do nothing
while you keep pulling on my puppet strings
metal detectors beeping
i couldn’t get to sleep
i wish i could i be sleeping
but i have all this time to keep
staring at the wall
counting down the hours
‘cause my clock keeps flashing 12 o clock
ever since i lost my power
and in the morning the mockingbird won’t sing
so i’ll go out and buy a diamond ring
your fingers have become a crane
pulling on these puppet strings
if i love you
i’d tell nobody that i do
cause if i do
they’d try to take me away from you
if you love me
then together we’ll be free
and then we’ll see
just how strong our love can be
about
Hello, hello, hello! It's your main man, Spiffy Flinger, here today to offer you a BRAND NEW single from that band you know(?) and love(?), Probehead!
This is the second out of three singles that will be released for our second album, still under development, and still unnamed as of now. Now you may be wondering to yourself just what's been going on over at Probehead Central* since the release of our previous single.
Well, first of all, the bassist that we recruited for this second album has officially left the band to focus on other projects, both musical and non-musical. He unfortunately didn't get a chance to play bass on any of our recordings, but we wish him the greatest success possible for his future ventures.
Our new drummer Luke, however, is not only still in the band, but he is also the primary composer of this new single, "Puppet Strings". As opposed to the previous single, where he only played drums, on this song alone, Luke plays 6 different instruments plus lead vocals, showcasing his multi-instrumental skills. Luke has actually been writing as consistently as both Justin and I, perhaps even more so. So yeah, I'd say expect lots of quality songs from him on this upcoming album.
"If I Love You" was one of the first songs written for the album, offered by Justin before Luke and Ron joined the group. We came back to this song very recently, and ended up finishing it fairly quickly. Basing it off the demo, which was rather rhythmic and hypnotic in itself, with a strong melodica part, Luke added some bass, and I sprinkled a layer of my beloved Fender Rhodes keyboard (which I also used on our song "Generova", which can be found on the new Scratch comp**).
We're about 60% done with this album, and we're pretty sure it'll be 100% completed by the end of the year. Until then, we hope you get a kick out of these new songs. We have one more single to go, and then the album will follow suit.
Probehead is an online rock band featuring Josh, Justin, Luke and April. They make groovy indie rock tunes. The band started
in 2013, and their first album was released soon after. Probehead have just finished their third album, released at the end of 2016....more
